![]() ![]() Would you have been disappointed if you met Elmer? You would have been if you had wanted him to explain how he got the effects that he did. Maybe this was manifestation of his own loneliness. I think that Elmer’s genius was in placing his models in desolate surroundings. (Some of the black-haired ones are good, however, because I managed to sneak my eyes into the picture.) That is why I like more of the strawberry blonde photos he took than the black-haired ones. After examining the photos from that first session, he did realize this and paid more attention to my face and my expressions. It is as if, on that first session, he really didn’t notice that my eyes were an important part of my modelling strategy because he didn’t pay attention to my face. This was after he had a chance to examine the photos that he had taken during our first session. Interestingly, the second time we worked together he focused more on my face and eyes. ![]() (The only conversation I remember is the one that took place in his car at mid-day.) He didn’t talk much but I never felt uncomfortable in his presence. Now, after examining the photos of me he took during our first session together, it is quite obvious that he was far more interested in the lower part of a model’s anatomy (behind, legs and feet) than he was of the upper part (face and breasts). Everyone says he had a fetish for women’s feet and maybe he did but I didn’t realize it while I was modelling for him. He was definitely shy, as he hardly ever looked me in the face. Looking back from a more mature perspective, I would say that Elmer was a bit “frightened” of pretty girls. When I wrote this, I tried to use the point of view of me as a young girl, and how I felt then.
